look what i did
Me and Suz, the fearless leader of the Cleveland SnB, were sitting at the bar, brainstorming different baby hat ideas. Y’see, last year at Bizarre Bazaar, we had all sort of cool grown up things, like purses and scarves and tampon holders. We didn’t sell much of those… but we did sell Donna’s felted fiends. And all sorts of people were asking for baby clothes. So! Suz suggested a cupcake hat, after seeing a nice spread of cupcake related products in the lastest issue of BUST. Since I’m too lazy to knit a ruffle and sew it on after the fact, I stole a bauble pattern from one of the SnBN pillows for a row, and the Cupcake Hat was born. Due to popular demand, an adult pattern is to come, tho I’ve had some difficulties with a big kid size. Enjoy!
SIZE 1-4 years

Continue to k2tog until 5 stitches remain.
Break off yarn and thread the end through the remaining 5 stitches.
With the chunky red, make a pom pom, about 1 inch wide. Whatever looks best on your cupcake.
Weave in loose ends.
Now here’s an optional part: With the buttons, you can sew on “sprinkes.” Spare yarn, you can stitch on “jimmies.” Same thing with the beads, rhinestones, whatever you like. But if this hat is intended for a child under 2 years of age, DO NOT attach any buttons, or anything that can be pulled off and choked on.

Has anyone tried making the frosting w/ a “fluffy” yarn like a boucle? If so, what were your results?
